Friendly Fox Forest School Summer Camps 🌿 For children aged 4–10 | Lees Road Park, Ennis | Summer 2026 🌿

Summer is the perfect time to swap screens for time in nature! At Friendly Fox Forest School, we give children the freedom to explore, create, and discover the magic of the natural world — right here in the heart of Ennis.

🌲 Lees Road Park, Ennis Our camps are set in the beautiful surroundings of Lees Road Park — a green oasis in Ennis where children can roam, imagine, and adventure freely. With open spaces, mature trees, and a rich natural environment, it's the ideal backdrop for a summer your child will never forget. Handy for families right across Co. Clare too!

Why Friendly Fox Forest School?

A break from the everyday: Our camps give children a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and just be kids in nature.

Grow in confidence: There's something powerful about mastering a new skill outdoors — whether it's lighting a campfire, identifying a wild plant, or navigating a den build. Children surprise themselves every single day.

Small group, big experience: With a maximum of just 15 children per camp, every child is seen, supported, and celebrated. No one gets lost in the crowd here.

Real skills, real fun: From foraging and fire craft to bug hunting and storytelling under the trees — our activities are hands-on, meaningful, and fun!

What Does a Day at Friendly Fox Forest School Look Like? Every day has its own natural rhythm, and no two days are ever quite the same — but here's a taste of what to expect!

We begin by walking together into the woods, settling in, and gathering for circle time — a chance for everyone to arrive, connect, and feel at home in their surroundings. From there, we jump into a game or two to shake off the morning nerves, get the energy flowing, and set the mood for the day ahead.

After working up an appetite, we stop for a quick snack before diving into a nature craft. Another game follows to keep the fun going, before children get to learn a brand new skill — whether that's knot tying, foraging, tool use, or something else entirely.

Then comes everyone's favourite moment — lighting the fire. Children learn about fire safety and get to try their hand at cooking something over the flames, before sitting together to enjoy what they've made. There's something really special about sharing food outdoors.

After that, it's time for free play — children roam, explore, climb, and follow their curiosity wherever it leads. Those who fancy a quieter moment are always welcome to swing in the hammocks, observe nature, or simply wander. Nobody is ever pushed to participate — we follow the child's lead.

We come back together for one more game, craft, or skill to round out the session, before gathering our things and walking back through the woods to the meeting point — tired, happy, and already looking forward to tomorrow.

Participation is always encouraged but never forced — every child's pace is respected. 🦊

What to Bring: A packed lunch, plenty of water, a spare set of clothes, and waterproofs — Irish summers being what they are! Please label everything with your child's name.

What to Wear: Clothes you don't mind getting dirty! Wellies or sturdy outdoor shoes, layers, and sun cream on the sunny days. Choose long trousers over shorts. If in doubt, dress for rain and hope for sunshine ☀️

After Booking: A few days before camp you'll receive a detailed confirmation email with all the information you need — drop-off and pick-up times, what to pack, site details, and more. Keep an eye on your inbox and make sure you check the SPAM folder too!
