Carer and Child Friendly Fox Forest School - Starts Wednesday 2nd of September
Friendly Fox Forest School Carer and Child Wednesday Mornings (6 sessions for little ones aged 0-4 from 02/Sept/26- 07/Oct/26 at Lees Road Park, Ennis | 10:00am-12:00pm)
Some of the most important early learning happens not in a classroom, but outside, in the quiet company of someone who loves you.
Friendly Fox Carer & Child Forest School Mornings are gentle, unhurried woodland sessions for babies and toddlers and the grown-ups who care for them. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, childminder, or family friend — you are warmly welcome here. These mornings are as much for you as they are for your little one.
Lees Road Park, Ennis Our sessions take place in the green heart of Ennis — a spacious, tree-filled park where even the very youngest children can experience the wonder of the natural world at their own pace. Easy to reach for families right across Co. Clare.
Why Friendly Fox Carer & Child Mornings?
Nature from the very beginning: Research tells us that early exposure to natural environments supports immune development, reduces stress, and builds the sensory foundations that underpin all future learning. There is no age too young to begin.
Connection — for carers too: Life with a baby or toddler can be isolating. These mornings offer a warm, relaxed space to connect with other carers, share the experience of being outdoors together, and simply enjoy a couple of unhurried hours away from the house.
Completely led by your child: There is no programme to keep up with, no milestones to hit. We follow the children's curiosity — which might mean sitting under a tree watching light move through leaves, or splashing in every puddle between here and the fire circle. Both are equally valid.
Small group, big warmth: With a maximum of 15 children per block, these are genuinely intimate mornings. Every family is known, every baby is noticed.
What Does a Morning at Friendly Fox Look Like?
We arrive gently. There's no rush to the gate — settling in is part of the session. We gather loosely for a hello circle, a song, or a simple moment of noticing what's around us before the morning unfolds.
From there, the session is deliberately slow and sensory. Little ones might touch bark, mud, water, and leaves. They might watch a fire being built and feel its warmth from a safe distance. They might follow a beetle, mouth a stick (it happens!), or fall asleep in a hammock while the woods carry on around them. All of it counts.
For toddlers who are ready for a little more, there are simple nature crafts, gentle skill-building activities, water play, low ropes and the ever-popular moment of cooking something small over the fire and tasting it together outdoors.
Carers are encouraged to follow their child's lead — sitting close, exploring alongside, or simply being a calm presence while your little one takes the world in. There is no right way to do this. 🦊
