from €90.00

Friendly Fox Preschool Afternoons (6 sessions for children aged 2-5 from 02/Sept/26- 07/Oct/26 at Lees Road Park, Ennis | 2:00pm-4:00pm)

Some of the best early years happen outdoors — and they're even better when a trusted grown-up is right there alongside.

Friendly Fox Preschool Afternoons are relaxed, unhurried woodland sessions designed for preschoolers who aren't quite ready to head off independently, and who thrive when their parent or carer is part of the adventure. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Lees Road Park in Ennis, these afternoons offer a gentle, nurturing introduction to forest school for the very youngest nature explorers.

Why Friendly Fox Preschool Afternoons?

A gentle bridge into nature: These sessions sit somewhere between a toddler group and independent forest school: relaxed enough to feel familiar, rich enough to feel like a real adventure.

Your presence matters: Research consistently shows that young children explore more confidently when a trusted adult is nearby. You're not just a chaperone here, you're part of what makes it work.

Small group, unhurried pace: With a maximum of 15 children per block, there's space for every child to settle in, follow their curiosity, and go at their own pace. Nobody is rushed.

Real experiences from the start: Mud, fire (safely!), bugs, water, sticks, sensory play, simple crafts, and the magic of cooking something over a flame. Even the youngest children are capable of more than we often expect.

What Does an Afternoon at Friendly Fox Look Like?

Every session has its own gentle rhythm, shaped by the season, the weather, and what the children bring with them on the day.

We arrive, settle in, notice what's around us, and ease into the afternoon. From there, the session unfolds naturally: a sensory activity or nature craft, some gentle skill-building (think building stick houses for teddies, painting, or creating something out of natural materials), and plenty of time for free exploration in the woods.

Fire is a highlight for many families. Children learn about fire safety in an age-appropriate way, and get to experience the simple joy of cooking something outdoors and eating it together, a moment that never gets old.

There's always time for free play: roaming, climbing, water play, playing in the hammocks or the low ropes. Quieter children are equally welcome to observe, sit with a grown-up, and take it all in at their own pace. Participation is always encouraged, never forced. 🦊
